Camp
Haccamo was created fifty years ago to provide a camping experience
for individuals who might not have the opportunity to go to other
traditional residential camps. We provide enriching summer fun activities
as well as high quality care for children and young adults with developmental
disabilities in the Monroe County Area.
Our
programs are completely FREE of charge to all campers.
Key
Facts About Haccamo:
- Founded by the Rotary cLubs of
Monroe County in 1956, Camp Haccamo provides a week-long, overnight
camping experience for young people in the Greater Rochester area
with all types of developmental or other disabilities.
- Children with cancer, with downs
Syndrome, autism, Cerebral Palsy... children in wheelchairs... it
doesn't matter. Camp Haccamo accepts them all -- at no charge to
campers' families.

The
Camp provides eight one-week sessions, five for children 7 to
17, and three for young adults 18 to 28.
- Currently, Camp Haccamo can meet
the needs of 480 campers per summer, each limited to one week at
the Penfield site near Panorama Plaza.
- The Camp employs a full-time nurse
and more than 30 trained leaders, and it has more than 100 volunteers.
There is one counselor for every two campers.
- Camp sessions are chocked full
of activites -- nature studies, arts and crafts, boating, fishing,
miniature golf, swimming, softball, field trips, and much more.
- The last overnight stay each week
features a special event, such as a Halloween party, Mardi Gras
festival, Hawiian luau, or the hugely popular Senior Prom.
- The current nine-acre campsite
features a main lodge and dining area, and buildings for lodging
and activities.

What
is Camp Haccamo?
Camp Haccamo is an overnight camp

What is the
cost for attending Camp Haccamo?
There is no charge to attend camp.
Camp Haccamo is sponsored by the suburban Rotary clubs of Monroe County,
The Wegmans Rochester LPGA Tournament, The United Way, The Camp Haccamo
Foundation, and many generous sponsors and individual donors.
Can someone
attend more then one session?
No, each camper is limited to one
session.
Do campers
always get their first choice of a session?
When filling out the application
you should pick your first three choices.
Do Campers
have to stay overnight?
Yes, but we make exceptions.
Does camp provide a one-on-one
care?
The Camp provides one counselor for
every two campers. If one-on-one care is required, the camper's
family is responsible for the extra level of care.
How does
a camper get to camp?
Campers must make their own arrangements.

125 Panorama Creek Drive, Rochester
NY 14625.
Camp is located in Penfield, behind Panorama Plaza. From the City
or West side, take 490 East to Rt. 441 (Linden Ave). Take a left onto
441. Exit at the Panorama Trail/Washington Street exit. Take a left
onto Panorama Trail. Take a Left at a signal by Popeye's. Follow the
signs to Camp Haccamo!

How will my child get his
or her medication?
We have a Registered Nurse on duty
24-hours a day. The camper will need to bring an updated medication
form (see our application) and full week's worth of medication upon
arrival.
